There is no such thing as darkness, only the absence of light.

I had the pleasure of working with the lovely Sonalli recently while helping Brooke Shaden on one of her shoots. Brooke is an expert at finding amazing locations, this particular location was in the valley at the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area in Los Angeles.

My concept for this shot was "there is no such thing as darkness, but rather only the absence of light."  I have a fascination with both the light and the darkness and I feel that most people who explore the darkness in their work fail to grasp the obvious fact that: there is no such thing as darkness. Darkness is a void, an empty space that wants to be filled. All we have to do is reach for it and acknowledge its presence and the light will come pouring in.

"There is no such thing as darkness, only the absence of light"

Brooke was absolutely amazing in helping me and encouraging me with this piece and I couldn't of done it without her. Thanks Brookie! xoxoxo

With magic hour in full effect, we had to shoot quickly so that everyone had enough time to shoot. (Brooke was also doing a separate shoot with Sonalli, as was our other companion Meredith.)

After getting my main shot I started by shooting a couple of portraits of Sonalli because she has amazing presence (and I love her hair). See below for the finished product:

She happens to be wearing a muscle wrap as her top. Kind of awesome.

How about that hair, huh? I've never seen such an amazing display.
